Kentucky School
of Art
I designed and built this website at Red7e for the Kentucky School of Art, a new college in Louisville aimed at building a renowned program around both the digital and traditional arts. This, like many of my websites, was built on the WordPress platform so that the client could update the site with new content on their own. I wanted to build the site around the student art work so the posts that appear on the home page all open into an easily browsable pop-up gallery when clicked. Because the school is so new these are currently being used mostly for news and events but as the school grows, they will be able to present all of the new student work on the home page. You can check out the website at KentuckySchoolofArt.org.
I also designed a tri-fold brochure that I designed for the school. They didn't have great photos to work with so I decided to create a halftone pattern from one of the images. This allowed me to turn a mundane scene from one of their classes into an interesting visual for the brochure.
The final pieces are the flyers which were designed to advertise some of their upcoming class offerings. I decided to work off the logo by making it the dot of the exclamation point for the "sign up" call to action. I utilized color to differentiate the flyers so the same design could be used over for each class without them being confused with each other. I also brought in some of the textures used in the website design to bring a little more cohesiveness to the two pieces.
